Prerequisite learning before starting AWS or any Cloud Computing course

 

Before starting AWS or any cloud computing course, it's recommended to have knowledge in the following areas:

 

Basic understanding of computing concepts

A basic understanding of computing concepts includes:

 

Having a solid foundation in these concepts will provide a good base for understanding cloud computing and AWS specifically.

 

  1. Familiarity with a programming language

  2. Understanding of networking and security concepts

  3. Familiarity with virtualization and cloud computing

  4. Familiarity with operating systems (e.g. Linux, Windows)

  5. Knowledge of databases (e.g. relational, NoSQL)

  6. Basic knowledge of infrastructure as code (IAC) and automation tools.

It's also helpful to have hands-on experience with operating systems and virtualization technologies.




It’s a steep learning curve and you’ll need to understand some technology fundamentals before undertaking AWS training:

 

Client-server technology: 

The relationship between a client (your laptop browser) and the server (the machine sitting on the back end receiving your browser requests)

 

Online application is a best example to understand client server technology. We use online applications from anywhere and any machine but in desktop applications, we cannot use them with that particular machine. 

 

Serverless Technology: 

Serverless is a cloud-native development model that allows developers to build and run applications without having to manage servers. There are still servers in serverless, but they are abstracted away from app development.

 

Network protocols:

An awareness of different types of network protocols, like HTTP in web technology, a secure version called HTTPS, and the different ways we can talk back and forth between client and server

 

A network protocol is a set of established rules that dictate how to format, transmit and receive data so that computer network devices -- from servers and routers to endpoints -- can communicate, regardless of the differences in their underlying infrastructures, designs or standards.

 

 

 

Network gateway and subnet 

A network gateway is a device that connects multiple networks. It acts as a bridge between two or more networks, allowing communication between them.

A subnet is a subset of a larger network, with its own IP address range and network masks. It is used to segment a larger network into smaller, more manageable units. Subnets are useful for organizing large networks, improving network security, and reducing network congestion.

In cloud computing, network gateways and subnets are important concepts for managing and securing network traffic in virtual environments. For example, in AWS, an Internet Gateway is a VPC component that allows communication between instances in a VPC and the Internet, while subnets are used to segment a VPC into different security and network environments.



Understanding of IP address:

An IP address (Internet Protocol address) is a numerical label assigned to each device connected to a computer network using the Internet Protocol for communication. It serves two main functions: identifying the host or network interface, and providing the location of the host in the network.

There are two types of IP addresses: IPv4 and IPv6. IPv4 uses 32-bit addresses and is the most widely used version of IP, while IPv6 uses 128-bit addresses and is the newer, updated version of IP.

IP addresses are unique, and they allow devices on the Internet to find and communicate with each other. They are used in combination with other networking protocols, such as TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) and UDP (User Datagram Protocol), to transmit data over a network.

In cloud computing, understanding IP addresses is important for managing network traffic and security, as well as configuring network services such as load balancers and VPN gateways.

 

A private IP address is a non-routable address used for internal communication within a private network, such as a local area network (LAN) or a virtual private cloud (VPC). Private IP addresses are not accessible from the Internet and are used to communicate within a network without being exposed to the public.

A public IP address is a globally unique address that is assigned to a device or network interface that is accessible from the Internet. It is used for communication between devices on the Internet, and allows devices to be reached by other devices on the Internet.

In cloud computing, private IP addresses are used to communicate within a VPC, while public IP addresses are used to provide Internet connectivity to instances or resources within a VPC. Public IP addresses can also be used for accessing cloud-based services, such as web applications or databases, from the Internet.
